The Cleaning Process
A&J uses an efficient, truck mounted hot water extraction equipment for carpets and upholstery, which is considered the most thorough method of cleaning. Because the machine is truck mounted, this means we will not use your electricity or water supply, it also means no bulky machines being carried through your house, just two hoses and a cleaning wand. Your carpets or upholstery will first be pre-treated with special attention paid to any particular areas of concern. Following the pre-treatment is a hot water rinse which flushes the soils from the fibers and a vacuum that immediately extracts them out. After the cleaning process you can walk on your carpets but they will be slightly damp and you can usually expect 12-24 hours of drying time, while upholstery drying time is usually a bit quicker.

Although variations in soils and fiber types require somewhat different cleaning solutions, A&J uses surfactants that are safe for people, pets, and the environment, the stronger the better is a myth, I work around these every day so it’s important that they’re safe. Should the need arise to use a specific spotter to remove gum, tar, grease, ink or other tough spots, you will be consulted first. A "green" cleaning option is also available at a slightly higher cost.
Why & when to clean your carpets
The carpeting and upholstery in your home is a major investment, and as with anything else that you’re trying to get the most out of, regular maintenance is an important part. Aside from the obvious day to day use that a carpet gets, it also acts as a sort of air filter for your home, collecting dirt, pollutants, odors, allergens, dust and other things from the air and trapping them within the fibers. Over time, these contaminants can contribute to not only premature wear of the carpet, but an unhealthy indoor living environment. While regular vacuuming helps to remove some soils and dry particles, only a professional cleaning will thoroughly deep clean all of those contaminants from the carpets and leave your home feeling fresh, clean and healthy. A professional cleaning is recommended about every 12-18 months depending on usage.
